I have completed microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics. But I have some confusion about the undergraduate preparation courses for applying the master program, which include “Total of three semesters of calculus and linear algebra”, however, I have completed two semesters of college mathematics, which is shown on my transcript as “engineering mathematics and multivariable calculus”. I have also completed one semester of linear algebra and probability statistics. I am not sure if my undergraduate courses meet the requirement of your MS program.
Do I need to complete additional prerequisite course(s), or may I apply to the MS in Economics derectly?
小秘回复:
Thank you for your email and your interest in the UW-Madison Economics Master’s Program.
The math and economics courses are more recommendations of what students will have taken to do well in the program rather than hard requirements to get admitted. All courses on your transcript, as well as your other application materials, will be taken into consideration by the Admissions Committee. On the math preparation sheet, you can indicate that you believe you have met the math requirements through the coursework indicated below. The Admissions committee will take this into account when evaluating your application materials.
Application instructions and a link to the math preparation sheet are available on our website: http://econ.wisc.edu/documents/Math%20Prep%20form.%20MS.%20writeable.pdf
