Review for transfer admission varies based on your program and campus of interest. In addition to meeting our general eligibility, make sure you review our list of programs for requirements specific to your application.

General Requirements

Meet these requirements to be reviewed for transfer admission:

Applicants must meet the courses required for 2-year and 4-year programHigh School Course Requirements.

Please prepare to provide proof of your high school graduation or GED.

If you have or will attempt 18 or more credit hours of post-secondary coursework at a regionally accredited college or university, you are a transfer student.

If you're in the fall semester and transferring to Penn State in the spring, you'll be considered a first-year student regardless of your attempted credits.

Ourlist of majorsincludes all programs offered at Penn State, and not all majors are open to transfer students. Find your intendedprogramand view the necessary transfer requirements by major.

Prerequisite coursework may vary by major and must be completed with a 2.0 (C) or better.

Four-year programs at University Park require a 2.5 minimum GPA.

Four-year programs at a non-University Park campus requires a 2.0 minimum GPA.

All two-year programs at all campuses require a 2.0 minimum GPA.

Some programs have a higher GPA requirement than the minimum required GPA listed by campus. Please refer to themajors listingto see if there are any other requirements for your chosen program.

To transfer to University Park, you need at least four semesters of consecutive, full-time college coursework at a regionally accredited college or university.

If you have fewer than four semesters of full-time college coursework, you can't transfer directly to University Park. However, you may transfer to a non-University Park campus and eventually transition to University Park.

If you're in your fall semester and transferring to Penn State in the spring semester, you will be considered a first-year student regardless of your attempted credits.
