- teaching dance with placements available in many secondary schools and dance academies across Brisbane
- performance arts and musical theatre with the Australian Dance Performance Institute, Brisbane Immersive Ensemble or Jam Performing Arts
- wellbeing, yoga or health with Grounded Koh Tao Wellbeing Centre, Active Arts Australia or RIPE Dance
- dance promotion and administration with organisations like Ausdance National.

Explore this course
From your first year you will learn the fundamentals of choreography, dance history and dance technique through studio-based research and experimentation with improvisation and task-based processes. You’ll also begin to explore all the creative career options on offer for you.
Your studies will then progress as you extend your self-knowledge across the rest of your studies. You will work collaboratively and engage with ideas and experience opportunities to create as a dance/movement artist in diverse contexts. These include screen dance, dance and technology, dance as an agent for change, sharing dance practice, teaching, installation and performance art.
You will develop your skillset in areas such as critical and creative thinking, self-awareness and digital fluency which will prepare you for a rapidly changing future withQUT You units.
QUT Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) curriculum emphasises research and experimentation to expand your opportunities for dance practice now and in the future. You will engage with dance as a mode of research, a vehicle for experience, and a source of embodied knowledge to foster a sense of social responsibility and how to utilise dance/movement practice as a way to think about the world.

Teach dance
Throughout this course you’ll explore dance teaching concepts in a variety of contexts which may include studio teaching, community teaching and formal education settings. If you wish to become a school dance teacher, you have some options:
- Master of Teaching: complete your Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) degree first and then follow with a two-year full-time Master of Teaching (check theentry requirementsfor specific teaching courses) which allows you to teach dance alongside drama, music or visual arts.
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary): undertake a double degree in education (secondary) and complete two separate degrees in just four and a half years full-time.
Create dance
Pursue your passion for choreography, teaching artistry, and independent practice by combining your dance studies with majors in film and animation, contemporary art, drama, creative writing or music. Consider a production design minor to help unlock your ability to design performances and shape creative experiences.
Get agile
Become a creative producer, company manager, arts administrator or journalist by combining your passion for dance with other interests such as media and communication, journalism or entertainment. You may also wish to combine your dance degree with behavioural science (psychology), law or business for a range of career opportunities.
Double degrees

Graduates of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) degree offers the flexibilty to move into many career paths, such as dance teachers in schools (with an appropriate teaching qualification), private studios, universities and professional dance company education programs. Graduates also work as dance researchers and academics, community engagement officers for dance companies, dance journalists, festival and community project directors and producers, independent dance practitioners, private dance studio owners, community dance artists, arts administrators, and dance health professionals.
