Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management Research

The organizational behavior (OB) and human resource management (HR) faculty conduct research at both the individual and group levels. Numerous faculty members conduct research on leadership, motivation, employee reactions and attitudes (including affective reactions, organizational justice perceptions), individual differences (personality, cultural intelligence), employee behaviors (citizenship behaviors, workplace deviance, individual decision making), psychological well-being (job and life satisfaction, work-family balance), personnel selection, mentoring, socialization, performance appraisal, job design and job analysis. Many faculty members also investigate issues related to groups and teams, such as team decision making, group performance and negotiations. Research is conducted in the laboratory and in field settings.

    Strategic Management Research

Broad’s strategic management (SM) faculty examine a broad range of issues centered on process-oriented aspects of organizational strategy. SM faculty members draw upon theoretical perspectives from the management literature as well as from disciplinary fields, such as economics, psychology and sociology, to study the strategic actions and positioning of organizations. Specific topics currently being examined by our faculty include strategic decision making, the selection and integration of resources, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, organizational risk taking, organizational learning, and innovation and change.
