The UCR School of Medicine seeks students with diverse intellectual and life experiences. We value broad academic backgrounds that include humanities, foreign language, social sciences and the arts to help prepare future physicians for interacting with increasingly diverse patient populations, health care professionals and colleagues.


Application Timeline

  • Students may begin working on their application onMay 1, 2024.
  • Primary applications may be submitted beginningMay 28, 2024. The primary deadline isNovember 1, 2024.
  • We will begin reviewing applications in mid-July.
    • Each applicant’s complete portfolio will be reviewed carefully in order to select students who are not only academically qualified but who have the breadth of volunteer/community and personal experiences to ensure that they will become physicians well prepared to care for the diverse population in our communities.
    • Applications may not be reviewed in the order they are received.
  • Secondary application invitations will be sent out fromJuly through December 2024.
  • Multiple Mini Interviews will be held betweenSeptember 2024 and March 2025.

Information for Undocumented or DACA Students

Submitting your Application Through AMCAS

All applications for the UCR School of Medicine must be submitted through theAmerican Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). The application window opens onMay 28, 2024and closes onNovember 1, 2024.

Prior to submitting an application, you must request that a complete set of official transcripts be forwarded directly to AMCAS by the registrar of each school you have attended.

No processing of your application will be performed until both the application and all required official transcripts are received by AMCAS.

Official transcripts are not required for work you have taken the previous term (e.g. if application is submitted in summer, previous spring official transcripts are not required).

Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program

The Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program helps educationally and/or socio-economically disadvantaged applicants in gaining acceptance to medical school.

Financial Aid and Paying for Medical School

The cost of attending medical school varies per year. If you are admitted, our Financial Aid team will work with you and discuss your financial options. The Office of Financial Aid website includes general financial aid information and the estimated cost of attendance.
