Bachelor of Construction Project Management
The Bachelor of Construction Project Management delivers the management, technology and process skills required to work in a variety of well-paid roles across the full spectrum of construction projects. Students are taught a wide range of project management methodologies with a strong focus on applying these to real-world projects. This knowledge can be applied in other industry sectors, providing further employment opportunities.
The emphasis on the utilisation of digital technologies, such as building information modelling, ensures that students understand the leading-edge advances that are being implemented in the industry. All students are required to complete a minimum of 200 days' industry experience during the course, providing essential professional exposure. For the vast majority of students this entails paid employment in the industry with contractors and consultants (typically called cadetships). To broaden their personal and professional outlook, students can also choose electives or a sub-major in a range of disciplines outside construction project management, including business studies, environmental studies, international studies and Aboriginal studies.
Course aims
This course is concerned with the management of all aspects of the construction process, including project management, construction management, design management, business management, quantity surveying, contract administration and property development. It delivers all the recognised competencies for construction project management professionals while introducing the opportunities to diversify into project management fields in other industry sectors.
Innovation and Transdisciplinary program
All UTS students have the opportunity to develop distinctive capabilities around transdisciplinary thinking and innovation through the TD School. Transdisciplinary education at UTS brings together great minds from different disciplines to explore ideas that improve the way we live and work in the world. These offerings are unique to UTS and directly translate to many existing and emerging roles and careers.
Diploma in InnovationThe Diploma in Innovation (C20060) teaches innovation, supports personal transformation and provides the hard skills needed to support the inventors and inventions of the future. Students come out of the Diploma in Innovation, with the hard skills to create and support sectoral and societal transformation. Graduates are able to fluently integrate ideas, across professional disciplines and are inventors of the future.
All UTS undergraduate students (with the exception of students concurrently enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation) can apply for the Diploma in Innovation upon admission in their chosen undergraduate degree. It is a complete degree program that runs in parallel to any undergraduate degree. The course is offered on a three-year, part-time basis, with subjects running in 3-week long intensive blocks in July, December and February sessions. More information including a link to apply is available athttps://dipinn.uts.edu.au.
Transdisciplinary electives programTransdisciplinary electives broaden students' horizons and supercharge their problem-solving skills, helping them to learn outside, beyond and across their degrees. Students enrolled in an undergraduate course that includes electives can choose to take a transdisciplinary subject (with the exception of students concurrently enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation). More information about the TD Electives program is availablehere.
Austin Fraser-Hills: Construction Project Management Student
Austin: I’ve always been interested in the building side of things, whether designing or actually building it. From that then I decided the management side was the better option, you still get to be with the architects, you get to learn all the design stuff but every other trade as well, whether its trades, consultants, engineers, everything like that, and just sounded far more interesting to me, and more challenging as well.
There’s heaps of different jobs that students can get into when you do the degree. Theres the biggest range you can possibly think of. The highlight of uni so far would probably have to be we pretty much got to go and build a house in Cambodia as a subject, and that was pretty cool for us.
I’ve sorta been thrown straight into the deep end with my job and at the moment I’ve only been there for eight months now, but I’m actually site managing four different projects at once. So its pretty busy, pretty stressful but its really good, its probably the best way to learn.
It is, its a little bit tough to be honest, it sort of shocked me when I first started doing it, but all it takes is very simple time management. You’ve got to really separate you work and your uni work, and you’ve just got to make sure that when you say you’re going to do something that you actually do it.
The toughest challenge would probably be the group work. The course is, theres not very many individual assignments but I think they obviously do it for a reason, because when you’re out in the workforce, if you’re a project manager you need to manage people and you’re managing the whole process.

Local student
All students at UTS pay tuition fees to contribute towards the cost of their studies.
In 2024 all offers made to domestic undergraduate students will be forCommonwealth Supported Places (CSP), which means that the Australian government makes a substantial contribution towards the cost of your education, and you pay the balance through student contributions.
The amount you pay depends on your area of study and the number of credit points (cp) in which you enrol. At UTS 48 credit points is considered to be one Equivalent Full Time Study Load (EFTSL).
The table to the right shows the amount a student can expect to pay for one year of full-time study (1.0 EFTSL).
Students can choose to pay their student contribution upfront, or if eligible, can defer their fees throughHECS-HELP.
In addition to tuition fees, students are required to pay aServices and Amenities Fee(SSAF). The purchase of textbooks and other course materials may also result in additional cost.
You can calculate your student contribution as a percentage of the amounts shown on the table. Fee rates are divided into four bands covering broad discipline areas. It is important to note that a particular subject within a course may fall within a different band.
For example, if you are enrolled in a6-credit point Architecture subject, your contribution would be6/48 x $9,314 = $1,164.
