Why study exercise science?

Exercise science prepares you to work as an expert in sport and exercise science, with an emphasis on community wellness. You’ll gain an understanding of the principles of human movement and study subjects such as exercise physiology, biomechanics and sports psychology.

After graduating, you’ll have the skills to develop training programs for clients including the elderly and elite athletes. Undergraduate exercise science courses can act as pathways for the Master of Exercise Physiology and Master of Physiotherapy Practice.

These courses will prepare you for employment in the exercise, sport and health industries. You’ll learn to apply a range of skills to improve the health and performance of clients and athletes. With a focus on sports, you’ll complete core units in physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, motor control and learning, skill acquisition, performance analysis, high performance training, sports nutrition and psychology. Professional placements with industry will allow you to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life situations. This course also provides a pathway to a range of graduate entry allied health programs.
