I really enjoy the way SLU always tries their hardest to get students involved on campus. Whether this is having volunteer opportunities, creating new clubs, doing wellness days, having food trucks, and more. They really try to foster good student relationships by having group projects, networking events, and more. What I would like to see change is the structure of classes at times. Sometimes it is very difficult to have generalizability in classes. Some teachers use Canvas for our classes (which is required) and some expect everything to be done through email correspondence. This also becomes an issue when turning in assignments, remembering due dates, and determining grades.
Although I can't speak for the main campus, I'm highly enjoying my time at SLU-Madrid. Most of my professors are understanding and engaging, and the ones that aren't are tolerable. Despite its small size, there are a great amount of clubs, volunteering opportunities, and an active student life. Given the campus' placement in Madrid, the student body is diverse and you get to experience the local culture as well as learn other cultures of the variety of students at the school.
Here and SLU is amazing, the housing depends on where you pick, (never pick Walsh). Food here is amazing and SLU has teamed up with other food places so you can use the school currency to buy stuff, like burritos, subway, Panera bread, or the dining hall which is amazing. This isn't much a party school with frats throw huge parties rather smaller get togethers in the lounges on each floor. There are so many clubs here and each so different, from building a formula car, to ultimate Frisbey, to even making a rocket, the choices are huge. teachers here are so nice and if you ever struggle you can stop by office hours to ask questions. Can't make it to office hours you might ask, no worries they have tutoring, and you get 10 free lessons. Don't want lessons, well you can sign up for study groups or even learning communities where you study with people on your floor or your class. Theres so much more to say but SLU is a wonderful experience.
