Our core competencies set us apart.

The Department of Marketing creates knowledge by doing empirical research at the “state of the science” and translating it to the practitioner’s “state of the art,” while developing transformational marketing leaders who make business happen. Our core competence is in the exercise of managerial and strategic marketing, with focal areas of emphasis in market research and analytics, sales and business development, customer experience and relationship marketing, new product development and innovation, and international marketing.

We build the knowledge and competence base of strategy by running several versions of ourM.S. in Marketing Research and Analytics programin close partnership with 50 major firms that lead the marketing research industry. Our Strategic Sales Initiative and undergraduateMinor in Sales Leadershiprank among the top such programs in the world. OurPh.D. programproduces the next generation of marketing scholars armed with the theoretical understanding, substantive insight and methodological tools to push the boundaries of thought and practice in marketing management and strategy.

This integration of probing and learning through marketing research, team building in marketing and sales management, and leading from a strategic point of view makes us unique in the academic marketing world.

In the Department of Marketing at Broad, undergraduates receive an understanding of marketing concepts and tools application; master’s in marketing research and analytics students are part of a number-one-ranked national program; and doctoral students contribute to Broad’s global reputation as a leading research-intensive business school.

The marketing major stresses understanding of marketing concepts and tools, analytical application of the concepts and tools to achieve objectives, planning, implementation, control techniques and integration of marketing with other business functions and societal processes.
