How to Apply

To apply to the MAT program, all applicants must have a bachelor's degree in their intended content area or a bachelors degree and at least 24 content hours (grade of 'B' or higher in each content course) in their intended content area.

Application Deadlines

Priority submission deadline: January 30, 2025

Second submission deadline: February 20, 2025

Applications received after February 20, 2025 will be reviewed on a space-available basis through May 1, 2025.

* The program is not currently accepting applications from international /non-U.S. resident prospective applicants for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Application Requirements

Applicants to the program complete theGraduate School Application

• Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate coursework
• Undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Undergraduate GPA calculated on 4.0 scale required
• Statement of Purpose
• Resume
• Three letters of recommendation which speak to the applicant's ability to pursue graduate level work as well as their capacity to work as a secondary school teacher in diverse classrooms
• Optional: GRE scores (verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing)
• Optional:Praxis II Content Knowledge assessment*A passing score on the content-specific Praxis content knowledge assessment is required prior to completion of the program to receive licensure recommendation.
• English Language Exam: TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test required* for applicants whose first language is not English
  *test waiver may apply for some applicants

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Application Process

• The MAT admissions committee reviews applications.
• Select applicants are invited for admission interviews with the MAT admissions committee.
• After MAT committee recommendations, final admission decisions are approved by the Graduate School; The Graduate School sends admission status decision to applicants.
