Pursue the MPH or DrPH degree if you're interested inpractical application. These interdisciplinary degrees prepare you to become a well-rounded public health professional, ready to assume a position in state or local health departments, health care or managed care organizations, community based organizations, consulting firms, or health-related non-profit agencies. Both degrees feature real-world experience in the form of intensive internships or experiential learning, so you’ll enter the workforce with a robust resume.
If you're interested in aresearch or academic career, explore our MS and PhD degrees. These degrees are designed to focus on your research interests. Under the guidance of a faculty member, you’ll conduct research on a chosen topic, which culminates in a written thesis or dissertation.
Enrolling in a certificate allows you to explore graduate study before fully committing to a master’s degree program, enhance your current profession, or develop a deeper understanding of a specific topic.
The NYSFellowship in Applied Public Health (FAPH)is a specialized public health training program that prepares physicians, veterinarians, and other advanced licensed health care professionals for leadership roles in state and local health departments.
In this program, which is jointly sponsored by the University at Albany and the New York State Department of Health, you will gain knowledge and skills to promote health, prevent disease, improve access to quality health care, and advance health equity through a wide range of public health programs and policies.
In addition to its academic programs, the School of Public Health is proud to be the home for theCenter for Public Health Continuing Education, which provides exemplary education for the public health and health care workforce and is nationally recognized for distance learning trainings. Support for CPHCE is through state and federal funding.
Rich academic options are available through ourCenter for Global Health, including international internships, study abroad programs, global health seminars, and opportunities with the Peace Corps.
UAlbany’s Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program engages students, alumni, faculty and partners in mentoring, internships, professional development activities and more. You can receive funding for internships, take part in an interest group, assist with research and community-based projects, and participate in a student advisory committee as well as other professional development activities related to MCH.
Enhance your skills by enrolling in a public health course. You can take up to 12 credits of public health courses without applying to a degree program (non-degree study).
