Vision

As a true collaboration, SEPnet is built on the strengths of each of our partners. Find out more about each of them below.

The University of Hertfordshire

At the School of Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics at the University of Hertfordshire we pride ourselves on creating exceptional opportunities for our students. Students have access to some of thebest teaching facilitiesin the UK, learn in small classes taught by practising scientists and mathematicians, and explore for research and professional development in our laboratories or on outside placements.

The University of Portsmouth

Portsmouth is a dynamic and forward-looking university, committed to supporting students to fulfil their potential. Their focus is on the fundamental knowledge and understanding that physics offers, as well as its application to real world problems such as pollution, climate change and alternative energy sources. Both the Institute for Cosmology and Gravitation (ICG) and theSchool of Mathematics and Physicsare active in SEPnet.

Queen Mary, University of London

Combining internationally excellent research with a broad range of degree programmes, Queen Mary is central London’s only campus-based university, with an enviable city location, and research strengths in Particle Physics, Astrophysics, Condensed Matter and String Theory.

Royal Holloway, University of London

With an outstanding international reputation for research within Condensed Matter, Quantum Devices, Nanotechnology, and Particle, Accelerator and Theoretical Physics, Royal Holloway’s well-maintained department has a friendly atmosphere and an excellent staff to student ratio. Based on a beautiful parkland campus to the west of London, they also enjoy easy access to the capital and rest of the world.

The University of Southampton

The School of Physics & Astronomy has a long standing reputation for research of international excellence within Astronomy, Laser Physics, Quantum, Light & Matter and Theoretical Particle Physics. One of just five UK Physics Schools to have achieved a 5* rating in each of the last two government RAEs, they’re also dedicated to building on a strong track record of quality physics teaching.

The University of Sussex

Providing stimulating teaching and pioneering research, the University of Sussex nurtures a uniquely interdisciplinary academic setting. Their high staff to student ratio makes their teaching exceptionally student-driven, and offers plenty of opportunity for students to get involved in their world-leading research.
