Greenville Technical College is a good college to start at. It helps us students get our feet in the door in the college lifestyle. It's a decent college to attend but I have had some issues with financial stuff and needing to take out loans to cover classes. This is from poor communication. My advisors also don't really help a lot so I've had to change my old advisor to the one I have now. It is better, but I still wish they would help out more and make things less confusing. They do have a variety of different programs and I even did an internship at the college's daycare, which was fun. They have good opportunities for students to explore but I do wish the communication was better. This includes the communication between me and my instructors. Some of them aren't great at it so I sometimes struggle with that. However, that is something they can improve on.
In times of global emergency (Ex: Hurricane Helene) they will send out deceptive messages that SEEM heartfelt such as “school is cancelled, use this time to focus on your family” but they don’t actually mean it. Once you return to school you WILL be blindsided with 2-3 tests in a week even if your professors didn’t give lecture on them, this happened to many people in the nursing program. The head of nursing lady is cold & uncaring (as is most of the other higher ups & professors in the nursing building), many students have complained to her about 3 specific professors in the nursing program who have been allowed to get away with being lousy teachers who spread misinformation to students even when the books don’t agree with them. Nothing was done of the reports which caused many students to fail those classes. But Greenville tech will lie to you and say that the end of class reviews are taken seriously and heard, they aren’t. The higher ups lack empathy for the students.
I enjoy the helpful professors and the flexibility of class schedules, which allow me to juggle school and other responsibilities. The campus environment is pleasant, and the resources, such as tutoring and career services, have proven useful. It's been a great place to grow academically and personally. In conclusion, I've had a wonderful experience as Greenville Tech.
