EAPS Facts
The mission of EAPS is to serve the citizens of Indiana, the United States, and the world through discovery that expands the realm of knowledge in basic and applied Earth, atmospheric, planetary and interdisciplinary sciences, learning through education and the dissemination of scientific knowledge, and engagement through the exchange of scientific skills and understanding.
Since 1988, the department has occupied a portion of the six-story addition to the Hampton Hall of Civil Engineering. EAPS occupies limited space on the ground floor, all of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors, and a rooftop observatory with access to rooftop instrumentation platforms. In total, EAPS has 50,449 square feet in the building divided into research labs (48%), teaching facilities (14%), and support operations (38%). Additionally, the Physics Building houses the EAPS Rock Sample Processing and Research Facility.
