The Jenkins MAC integrates data analytics across in all classes and starts the academic year with a data analytics bootcamp.
You’ll learn how tothink critically,interpret the dataand present it. Multiple sources, including thisPwC report, “Data Driven: What Students Need to Succeed in a Rapidly Changing Business World,” emphasize the important data analytics-related skills that accounting professionals must possess.
High-Impact Learning Experiences
The Jenkins MAC program takes a hands-on learning approach that immerses you in real world accounting challenges to prepare you to hit the ground running after graduation. Every day in the MAC classroom is different and includes real world case studies and team projects. Teamwork is a big component of the program and prepares students to work in diverse groups after graduation. MAC faculty bring professional experience and team up with industry leaders to provide practical experience that translate into real-life success.
Real Audit Experience
In Advanced Auditing, students audit sections of NC State’s Sustainability Report, sharpening knowledge and decision-making skills.
Practicum Projects
In IT Risks and Controls, students work with companies to evaluate real risks and controls for core business processes
Global Experiences
Students have the opportunity to participate in optional global experiences, gaining an understanding of the global professional environment.
ERM Practicum Projects
In Spring 2023, 19 students conducted real-world projects for one of three organizations: Boy Scouts of America, UNC Greensboro and Wake County Government. During these projects, students learned about the organization’s key strategic initiatives and business drivers; guided C-suite leaders through a process to prioritize strategic risks; prepared an extensive Strategic Risk Analysis report; and delivered a formal presentation to senior leaders that highlights key risk insights and related challenges.
Engaged Faculty
The Jenkins MAC curriculum is taught by senior accounting faculty who bring real world expertise and cutting-edge academic research in their specialties.
In addition, MAC faculty members formally mentor 10 to 15 students each to ensure students have the guidance and support needed to thrive in the program.
