Santiago Canyon College is honestly one of the best community colleges in its region. I have visited many and ultimately I chose Santiago Canyon college because of its great education and staff. All the professors I have had are very well versed in their subject an they have never failed to help students succeed in various ways. They are attentive in not only the classroom but personal needs such as homelessness, food needs, and campus jobs. Furthermore, SCC offers various support services to help students with needs examples include: UBMS, TRiO, B.L.A.C.K, Dreamers Recourses, and student Health and Wellness. The only thing I would say the college needs to work on are the cafeteria and services around the school. The college is in a more remote location and does not have very many resources surrounding it, for example gas stations or food spots, and this can make it difficult for many especially when they're in a bind.
In my major specifically, there was a lot of drama amongst the professors, and they did not get along. Because of this, it affected their ability to do their job effectively, and treat the students respectfully. Overall, my experience with my professors was positive though. I thought that most of the facilities were clean and newer, so it felt fancy and high-tech. I never felt unsafe on campus. They have a cafe that offers a variety of very good food, and the school is located never several restaurants too. There wasn’t much of a “student life” there, but I think that’s more at the fault of the Associated Student Government (ASG), than it is any of the staffs’ fault.
Santiago Canyon College used to be the school that I drove by everyday to go to work when I was in high school. I never paid much attention to it until I realized that it was an amazing opportunity to go to school there and work hard to get the increased chance to be accepted into a four-year university. Every class that I've taken has been amazing. I am a big fan of all the teachers. If this school was a four year school, then I would stay for all four years.
