There is barely any student life on campus, so don't count on finding friends. However, you may find an acquaintance here or there to say "hi" to in the halls, which can be refreshing. Most people on campus are hardworking and focused on transferring to a four-year university, so they simply don’t have time to form friendships outside of class. There's definitely a feeling of depression on campus because of this. Despite this, the campus itself is beautiful, with an unmatched green environment. Good professors aren't always easy to come by; MANY are exploitative to disabled and minority students and will intentionally make it harder for them to succeed in class. The Department of Disability Services and Title IX are ineffective at addressing these issues. This is a college for people with a clear objective: earn your degree and move on. DeAnza has a "livelier" campus, though its facilities are not nearly as nice. I am grateful for my time at Foothill but also glad to be moving on.
Foothill College has helped me in my journey to transfer to a 4-year university in California. Being a community college doesn't affect the college's academic quality as it really pushes me to strive and become a better student. Moreover, with the help of counselors and professors, navigating through the courses and education plan wasn't as stressful as I thought it would be. The college also provides students with opportunities such as internships and clubs that allow students to be more active academically and non-academically. Although student life is not as great as that of other universities, Foothill College is a great school that cares about its students and their goals.
Extremely unhelpful academics/transcript department where professors have no standardization on grade cut-offs. The professor I took was extremely rude and self-interested without supporting myself and my classmates. I've only had bad experiences with the admin here. I also went to Mission, and they were SO much more helpful with any issues and questions I was having. AVOID.
