• The scheduling process is a nightmare because of not having enough seats available in necessary classes and is always the most stressful week of the semester. However, the advisers in the CLS program are terrific. They are willing to work with the students in the program to make sure everyone gets the classes needed to remain on schedule and are willing to do whatever it takes to get their students into the general science classes (biology and chemistry courses) that are otherwise impossible to get into because of the competition between CLS, Biology, Health Science andChemistrymajors for a few core classes.
• The professors of these classes are great. They are willing to work with the students and are willing to get to know each student. Of course, small class sizes and the fact that this is a teaching institute (the students rate the professors and class taken at the end of every semester) may have something to do with that.
• As for the class workload, it is a lot, but I am in a science/medical field. I expected a major workload and have learned how to make sure I don't get behind in my classes.
• The Clinical Laboratory Science major is an exciting and fun program to be involved with. Within my first semester, I was hooked. In this major, professors give hands-on labs that are practical and helps you see what it would be like to be a Medical Technologist. As you go on in the major, it's a lot of work, and becomes more difficult and time consuming, but it is well worth it in the end and prepares you for clinicals and gets you ready to get a job right away when you graduate.
• Classes at UWSP vary depending on what subject it is. Typically, the sciences will be more difficult than others, mostly because of the labs and extra effort that goes into that. There are plenty of opportunities to take more challenging and advanced courses if one wishes to.
• The best study areas is the library, the "brewhaus" (which is a hangout spot on campus), or the study lounges in the basements of residence halls.
• I wish there were more opportunities and classes that I could relate physical therapy too.
• I love being a theatre major. The people are great and very nice and friendly. The classes are not that hard (yet). And the opportunities to work on shows are great.*(4)
